The cell besides other worth mentioned achievement formulates River Swat Protect Act, which the provincial Government with minor amendments promulgated as NWFP Rivers Protection Act.

  • Nine male and one female Target Group Organizations, one Wild Life Protection Committee and a Joint Forest Management Committee formed and trained in BSD.
  • The male activist of the area were trained in bee keeping, stove manufacturing and the female in embroidery and kitchen gardening.
  • 200,000 seedlings of forest and wild fruit planted.
  • Regeneration over an area of 350 acres protected and 3 agro-based nurseries raised through active participation of community members and Forest Department.
  • Basic infrastructure for eco-tourism promotion in Elum valley developed which comprises of improvement of 8Km long track from Murghuzar to Elum localities, construction of two rest areas along the track, construction of energy efficient guesthouse and development of eco-camp. To promote tourism in the area EPS has also formed a district level tourism promotion committee and has launched a web site (ww.visitswat.com).
  • Supported and facilitated the local community members in small scale entrepreneurship to reduce pressure on forest resources.
