REHABILITATION CAMPS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES Environmental Protection Society (EPS) organized 25 days Free Rehabilitation Camps for the People with Disabilities from 4th to 28th of July 2011 in three Union Councils of District Swat i.e. U/C Kanju, U/C Koza Bandai and U/C Tootano Bandai.

10 Days Workshop on Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups EPS Disability team attended 10 days workshop on “Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups” from May 17-28, 2011 at ECI Islamabad. The aim of the workshop was to build the capacity of the staff regarding Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups and to provide them an opportunity to practice these guidelines for business incubations in the targeted areas.

Participatory Research on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (PROMPT):
EPS is implementing Participatory Research on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (PROMPT) in Rodingar valley of tehsil Matta district Swat in collaboration with Innovation for Poverty Reduction Project (IPRP)-IC/MAPPA. Started in July 2004 initially the project was for two years period ending June 2006. Based upon the excellent performance the project has been extended.  Approximate value of the project is Rs. 3,990,500/-

Aims of the Project:

Participatory Research On Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (PROMPT) Project aims to improve livelihood condition of poor community in Rodingar Valley, Matta, Swat through sustainable use of medicinal and aromatic plants of the area with the active involvement of local communities and other stakeholders.

Activities:

  1. Ecological Survey of Rodingar Valley
  2. Formation of Target Group Organizations (TGOs)
  3. Capacity building of TGOs
  4. Organization of Seminars/Workshop and Roundtable
  5. Development of Educational materials (brochure, pamphlets, calendars and Documentary film).
  6. Socio-economic survey in the project area
  7. Participatory trials of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs)
  8. Indigenous Knowledge documentation and its validation
  9. MAPs conservation education and Management
