REHABILITATION CAMPS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES Environmental Protection Society (EPS) organized 25 days Free Rehabilitation Camps for the People with Disabilities from 4th to 28th of July 2011 in three Union Councils of District Swat i.e. U/C Kanju, U/C Koza Bandai and U/C Tootano Bandai.

10 Days Workshop on Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups EPS Disability team attended 10 days workshop on “Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups” from May 17-28, 2011 at ECI Islamabad. The aim of the workshop was to build the capacity of the staff regarding Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups and to provide them an opportunity to practice these guidelines for business incubations in the targeted areas.

Mitigation Operations for Health Issues among Migrants (MOHIM) project Shangla:
After the successful implementation of Community Based Health and Disaster Management Program in district Shangla EPS in collaboration with CARE International in Pakistan started Mitigation Operations for Health Issues among Migrants (MOHIM) project in the four highly affected union councils of district Shangla initially for one year.

Aims of the Project:

The project aims at providing primary health cover to the sixty thousand displaced people especially women and children in four union councils (in settled and tent villages) worst hit by the earthquake in Shangla.  Developing a workable model of health cover provision to disaster displaced communities anywhere in the future is also aimed at.

Activities:

  1. Formation of village committees.
  2. Establishing and promotion of community health volunteers
  3. Training of community health volunteers
  4. Establishing tent clinics
  5. Mobile medical camps
  6. Training of TBAs
  7. Establishing and maintaining referral linkages
  8. Coordination and networking
