REHABILITATION CAMPS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES Environmental Protection Society (EPS) organized 25 days Free Rehabilitation Camps for the People with Disabilities from 4th to 28th of July 2011 in three Union Councils of District Swat i.e. U/C Kanju, U/C Koza Bandai and U/C Tootano Bandai.

10 Days Workshop on Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups EPS Disability team attended 10 days workshop on “Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups” from May 17-28, 2011 at ECI Islamabad. The aim of the workshop was to build the capacity of the staff regarding Sustainable Livelihood & Enterprise Development for Vulnerable Groups and to provide them an opportunity to practice these guidelines for business incubations in the targeted areas.

 Conservation and Rehabilitation of Elum Valley Forest (CARE):
The Conservation and Rehabilitation of Elum Valley (CARE) project was initiated by EPS in collaboration with EU UNDP SGP PTF Islamabad in March 2005 initially for eighteen months. Approximate value of the project is Rs. 5,441,000/-

Aims of the Project:

Conservation And Rehabilitation of Elum Valley Forest (CARE) Project aims at conservation of forest resources of Elum Valley with the active involvement of local communities, hoteliers, concerned government functionaries and other stakeholders.

Activities:

  1. Social organization and capacity building.
  2. Baseline and periodic surveys about forest and wildlife
  3. Develop Joint Forest Management Plan
  4. Establishment of former new nurseries of indigenous species in the project area
  5. Reforestation
  6. Introduction of fuel efficient stoves
  7. Introduction of energy efficient house
  8. Formation of NTFPs conservation plan
  9. Micro enterprise development and training
  10. Eco-tourism development
  11. Improvement of walking track
  12. Organization of Seminars/Workshop and Roundtable
