4 Organization Structure:
Organization of EPS comprises of a General Body, Council, Management Committee, Office Management, one programme and five units.

4.2 General Body (GB)
EPS membership is open to all those (male and female) conscious to the overall environment of the region. General Body members meet once a year to review the programmes and finances of EPS. The members of GB fill half of the seats of the Council falling vacant each year through election. Internal auditor for the accounts of the Society is also selected by the GB. The GB has the right to propose and pass amendments in the bye-laws.
4.3 Council
The Council is a voluntary body, which acts as the Board of Governors. The Council is responsible to frame and amend policy guidelines for the Society and move the Society forward within the bounds of its vision and philosophy and monitor the activities of the Society towards the objectives of the Society. Presently there are nine members of the Council. A Chairman selected for a one-year term represents the Council. A Vice-Chairman and a Press Secretary are also elected for one-year term.
4.4 Management Committee (MC)
The Management Committee is responsible to review the overall performance of the Society on monthly basis or any time if required, in term of material and financial resources, and keeping management system of the Society on the right track. There are three members of this committee. Two among them are Executive Council members appointed by the Executive Council and ED is the ex-officio member and chairman of the MC.
4.5 Grievances, Disciplines and Civil Behavior Committee
The Grievances, Disciplines and Civil Behaviour Committee are constituted by simple majority of the Council in quorum. It comprises of three Councilors and is formed on yearly basis.
The Grievances, Disciplines and Civil Behaviour Committee deals with the issues of grievances, discipline and civil behaviour within the Society and its Projects/Units/Programmes. Main function of this Committee is to make sure that every staff member respects the norms and values of Society as well as the Rules and Procedures.
The Grievances, Disciplines and Civil Behaviour Committee is empowered to conduct inquiries and recommend appropriate actions to the Council within the provision of the rules for any misconduct, bad behaviour etc.
The Grievances, Disciplines and Civil Behaviour Committee also handle the issues of grievances among the members/volunteers of the Society in matters related to the Society’s affairs and recommend the redress to the Council.
4.6 Office Management
The Management Structure of the Society comprises of Executive Director, Administrative and Finance Manager, Coordinators of the Units and support staff. Besides the core staff each project executed by EPS has its own management structure, with the Executive Director as the management head.
4.7 Programmatic Area
Earlier there were four programme areas of EPS including NRM, HRD, Social and Physical Development and Poverty Alleviation but in a series of meetings, dialogues and workshops it was proposed that EPS should focus on NRM instead of broader approach. The NRM include water bodies (like River Swat and its tributaries), forests and wildlife, agriculture and livestock, and minerals. These aspects also address tourism sector. The Executive Council approved the structural changes in its meeting held on July 6, 2006 after thorough discussion on all aspects of such changes.
4.8 Units
The units of EPS were also changed in light of the emerging realities of the organization. There were four units in the past, three among which were retained while two more were created for effectiveness of the organization. The three units retained are Finance and Administrative Unit, Technical Unit, Research and Publication Unit. The newly formed units are; Monitoring and Evaluation Unit and Human Resource Unit.
4.9 Finance and Administration Unit
This unit looks after the day-to-day administrative affairs of the Society and manages its finances. It has two sections, administrative and finance headed by administrative and finance managers with support staff.
4.10 Human Resource Unit
This unit is meant to look after the human resource of the organization and to capacitate the Community Based Organizations in their endeavors for sustainable development. The Unit was established in 1997 with the support of CHIP Islamabad. Since 2002 EPS retained the Unit and continued the tempo of work without any external support. Beside free trainings for the CBOs linked with EPS this unit also imparts trainings on payment to CBOs formed by other projects/NGOs on demand. This unit is headed by Human Resource Coordinator.
4.11 Technical Unit
This unit provides input to the projects of EPS and to CBOs initiatives in topographic surveys, low cost designs and estimates for any physical improvement beneficial to the community. The unit was established with the financial support of Water Aid UK in 1998. In 2002 when the agreement of partnership concluded, EPS retained the unit within its resources and kept the unit functional with improved pace of work. During 2005 the Council decided to commercialize the unit for general public for stream lining the physical growth and resource generation for the Society.
4.12 Monitoring and Evaluation Unit
This unit monitors and evaluates the projects, events and campaigns of EPS to keep the activities on track. Reports produced are shared with the project staff and donors. It is headed by M&E Coordinator with support staff.
4.13 Research and Publication
This unit manages publications and Area Resource Center of the Society alongwith student’s researches. Udyana Today is the regular publication of the Society since 1994. All the brochures, pamphlets, posters and reports are prepared by this unit. In addition it looks after the researches of the Society through students or consultants.
