REHABILITATION CAMPS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

More than 4,658 patients with disabilities received medical checkup, consultation and treatment. These Camps aimed to improve the health and quality of life of people living with disabilities. It helped people with disabilities by providing support to Visual Impairment, Hearing & Speech Impairment, Physically challenged and Mental Retardation /Intellectual Impairment. During these camps need based care was provided to persons with disability by Medical Doctors, Psychologist, Orthopedic Technologists, Physiotherapist, Audiologists, Hearing aid Specialists, Speech Therapist, and Optometrist Spectacle Specialists.

EPS Disability team through the Members of the COs announced the date of the medical camps to the community weeks in advance and went to the area six days in advance to distribute the token to PWDs and also to finalize all arrangements required to conduct the camp. The camp timing scheduled; from 8 am till 5 pm.

The outcome of the medical camp was extremely positive as over 4,658 PWDs were reviewed and treated. Overall, the medical camps ran smoothly and were deemed a success by all involved. The CO members and volunteers also did an excellent job in organizing and maintaining the camps. All the doctors and experts came to the services in a good number with courage and dedication to render their services with one heart.

The people of the adjacent areas also hopes to continue this work to reach many thousands of people with disabilities; who still need support and access to other basic necessities of life. Many people complained that there had been no real relief effort for PWDs in the area up to now and this is the first time that such type of support is provided to the PWDs of the area. The people of the targeted area are grateful for providing such type of support to the PWDs of their area. All these activities have helped us build rapport, trust and confidence amongst the persons with disability living in the communities.
