The EPS in partnership with Handicap International aimed at improving the existing services and introduce new ideas in the shape of accessible latrines and bathing places. The facilities provided would be both sustainable and socially acceptable in relation to the beneficiary communities.
Prior to the commencement of the project in both districts, a Rapid Need Assessment was conducted. In district Buner two U/Cs, Gadezai and Koga were assessed in terms of Accessible WASH facilities. Both the U/Cs has the potential to be considered but as most of the NGOs are working in U/C Gadezai, therefore EPS opted to work for the vulnerable community of U/C Koga.
The project aims to ensure construction/modification of 100 latrines/bathing places in the selected U/C.The identification of beneficiaries has almost completed. The technical team of WASH project has developed site maps and Bill of Quantities for 68 units. The construction work on 20 latrines has been started in the firs phase. The construction work for the rest of facilities will be started the next week.
