Interpersonal meetings are the most effective and participatory advocacy tool. The goal of advocacy is to build transparency and accountability in policy making and decision taking. It also aims to build the capacity of social society and organizations to act for change. Common tool used for advocacy are lobbing, meetings and negotiations.
To achieve the goal of advocacy and social mobilization, the manager WASH organized meeting with Village Support Group (VSGs) and beneficiaries of Union Council Panr-Gukada on November 19,2009. Mr.Francois Olive Keravec,Head of Emergency Response Unit and Mr. Mohammad Salim,Program Officer of Handicap International and Mr.Rasheed Ali ,Manager –WASH OF EPS attended the meeting.
The meetings started with the recitation from the Holy Quran.The Manager WASH greeted the participants and briefly explained the agenda of the meeting.
Mr. Francois Olive Keravec pay gratitude to the participants and also thanked EPS for conducting a well organized meeting. He explained the objectives of Handicap International regarding WASH project. He took keen interest in the issues related to the vulnerable community and promised to address the issues in their future undertaking.
Mr.Noor Alam, a VSG member on behalf of the participants appreciated the efforts taken by HI/EPS.He said such meetings will help sensitize the community regarding the problems and hygiene related issues of vulnerable community to a great extent.
